Adam Savage is an American television personality and special effects designer. He is known as a former co-host of the Discovery Channel program MythBusters , with Jamie Hyneman .

Adam is the son of Karen, a psychotherapist, and Whitney Lee Savage, a painter, filmmaker, and animator. Adam is married to Julia Ward. He has two children.

Adam’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Whitney Savage (the son of Whitman Lee Savage and Lucinda Julia Slack). Joseph was born in West Virginia. Whitman was the son of William Allen Savage and Frances Thankful Detty. Lucinda was the daughter of John William Slack and Amazetta Ritter.

Adam’s paternal grandmother was named Janet Kelly. Janet was born in West Virginia.

Adam’s maternal grandfather was Cushman Davis Haagensen (the son of Edward Cornelius Haagensen and Henrietta Theodora Paulson). Edward was born in Cambridge, Dane, Wisconsin, to Norwegian parents, The Rev. Anders “Andrew” Haagensen, from Skjeberg, Smaalenenes, and Julia Thompson, from Eidfjord, Hordaland. Henriette was born in East Union, Carver County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry John Paulson, who was from Grue, Hedmark, Norway, and had Norwegian and Swedish ancestors; and of Johanna Jonsdatter, who was Swedish.

Adam’s maternal grandmother was Alice Beecher Munro (the daughter of Dana Carleton Munro and Alice Gardner Beecher). Alice was born in Cape Cod, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Dana was born in Bristol, Rhode Island, the son of John Bennett Munro and Abby Howland Batt. Dana was a history professor at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Wisconsin, and Princeton University, and was the president of the American Historical Association in 1926. Adam’s great-grandmother Alice was born in Bedford, Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of Samuel Peck Beecher and Caroline Matilda Walker.
