Adam van Koeverden is a Canadian sprint kayaker and politician. A member of the Liberal Party, he has been a Member of Parliament for Milton/Burlington North—Milton West (ON), since October 21, 2019, and Secretary of State (Sport), since May 13, 2025. He won the Olympic gold medal in the K-1 500m category in 2004. He is a two-time world champion in K-1 500 and K-1 1000, winning four Olympic and eight world championship medals.
His father, Joe van Koeverden, is Dutch. His mother, Beata Bokrossy, is Hungarian, and left the country after the 1956 Revolution.
Adam’s maternal grandmother was named Irene.
