Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson is an Icelandic musician. He was the drummer for post-rock band Sigur Rós. Georg Hólm, Jónsi , Kjartan Sveinsson, and, previously, Orri Páll Dýrason , have also been members of the band.
He is the son of Anna K. Ágústsdóttir and Gunnar Valberg Andrésson. He is married to Ilmur Dögg Gísladóttir. Ágúst’s parents are pictured here .
Ágúst’s paternal grandfather was Jón Andrés Sveinn Hallgrímsson Valberg (the son of Hallgrímur Andrésson Valberg and Indíana Sveinsdóttir). Jón was born in Syðri-Mælifellsá, Skagafjörður. Hallgrímur was the son of Andrés Björnsson and Guðrún Jóhannsdóttir. Indiana was the daughter of Sveinn Gunnarsson and Margrét Þórunn Árnadóttir.
Ágúst’s paternal grandmother was Vilborg Jóhannsdóttir (the daughter of Jóhann Þorkelsson and Þorbjörg Magnúsdóttir). Vilborg was born in Reykjavík. Jóhann was the son of Þorkell Sigurður Ásgrímsson and Anna Jóhannsdóttir. Þorbjörg was the daughter of Magnús Þorbergur Árnason and Vagnbjörg Magnúsdóttir.
