Al Horford is a Dominican Republic-born professional basketball player. A power forward and center, he plays for the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was previously with the Atlanta Hawks, the Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He is nicknamed “Big Al.”. He is 6′9″.
He is the son of Arelis Reynoso and Tito Horford (Alfredo William Horford), who is also a professional basketball player, and who was the first Dominican-born NBA player. His uncle, Kelly Horford, played college basketball, and his brother, Jon Horford, plays professional basketball. In college, Al played for the Florida Gators.
His grandfather was Bahamian.
Al is married to model, actress, and musician Amelia Vega , who was Miss Santiago 2002, Miss Dominican Republic 2002, and Miss Universe 2003. The couple has five children. Al is fluent in Spanish. He belongs to the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International.
