Alban Lafont is a French professional footballer. A goalkeeper, he plays for Ligue 1 club Nantes, and the Ivory Coast national team. He was previously with Toulouse, Fiorentina, Nantes B, and Panathinaikos, and the France national team. He is 6′5″.
He was born in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. His father, Rolland Lafont, is French. His mother, Hélène Marie-Laurence Ilboudo/Marchal, was born in Douka, Guinea, and was a member of the Burkinabe national handball team. She is a politician, who is a member of Parliament for the People’s Movement for Progress (MPP) in the Burkina Faso National Assembly, and government minister. Alban was raised mostly by his father in Herault, France.
He had relatives killed in the Ouagadougou attacks in 2016.
Alban’s maternal grandfather played football for ten years, and served as president of Ouagadougou Shooting Star.
