Albert Pujols is a Dominican Republic-American professional baseball player. A first baseman and designated hitter, he played for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels, and the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “The Machine”/La Máquina.
He is the son of Bienvenido Pujols. He was born in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Dominican Republic, and moved to New York City, U.S., in 1986. His surname is Catalan. Albert is married to Nicole Fernandez. He has five children with his former wife Deirde. Nicole is the daughter of politician Leonel Fernández, who was President of the Dominican Republic, from 16 August, 1996 to 16 August, 2000, and again, from 16 August, 2004 to 16 August, 2012.
Albert and his family have attended a Southern Baptist church. He is an Evangelical Christian. He became a U.S. citizen in 2007.
