Alexander Zverev, also known as Sascha Zverev, is a German professional tennis player. He is world No. 3, and has been ranked as high as No. 2 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He was a junior world No. 1. He has won a junior major singles title at the 2014 Australian Open; 24 ATP Tour titles in singles and two in doubles; titles at the 2018 and the 2021 ATP Finals; and a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is 6′6″.
Alexander is the son of professional tennis players Alexander Zverev, Sr. (Alexander Mikhailovich Zverev) and Irina Zvereva (born Irina Vladimirovna Fateeva). His parents were born in Sochi, Russia, and represented the USSR internationally. His father was the top-ranked male tennis player in the USSR, and his mother the fourth highest-ranked female. In 1991, his parents moved to Germany, where they were offered work as tennis coaches. His mother then represented the Commonwealth of Independent States. His brother is professional tennis player Mischa Zverev.
Alexander has a daughter with his former partner Brenda Patea. He speaks German, Russian, and English.
