Anthony Fantano is an American music critic, internet personality, and YouTuber. He is known for his username and YouTube/streaming channel The Needle Drop. He runs music-themed channel Fantano, as well. He is also known as Melon, Cal Chuchesta, and The Internet’s Busiest Music Nerd.

Anthony’s paternal grandfather was Nicholas Carl Fontana/Fantano (the son of Pietro Giovanni Maria Fontana/Fantano and Carmella Bernardi). Nicholas was born in Wolcott, Connecticut, to Italian parents. Pietro was from Bocchigliero, Cosenza, Calabria, the son of Pasquale Fontana and Filomena De Filippis.

Anthony’s paternal grandmother was Jeanette/Jeannette Clara LeStage (the daughter of Arthur Joseph LeStage and Catherine Emily Soucy). Jeanette was born in Burlington, Vermont. Arthur was born in Burlington, the son of Janvier Lestage and Delia Perrotte, who were French-Canadian, from Québec. Anthony’s great-grandmother Catherine was born in Grand Isle, Aroostook, Maine, the daughter of Delvas George Soucy, who also had roots in Canada; and of Mary May Frazer, who was from Fraserville, Québec.

Anthony’s maternal grandfather was Raymond Edward Larocque (the son of Wilfred Joseph Larocque and Clarinda Rosanna Pelletier). Raymond was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Wilfred was born in Canada, the son of Edouard Larocque and Marie Lena Laporte St George, who were French-Canadian, from Québec. Anthony’s great-grandmother Clarinda was the daughter of Andre Pelletier and Rose Plouffe, who were also French-Canadian, from Québec. Raymond was also of distant English and Huron First Nations descent.

Anthony’s maternal grandmother was Mildred Jeanne Coupe (the daughter of Edward Raymond Coupe and Marie Imelda Potvin). Mildred was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Edward was born in New Bedford, the son of Edward Parkinson Coupe and Elizabeth Ann Kershaw, who were from Lancashire, England. Anthony’s great-grandmother Marie was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, to French-Canadian parents, Eugene Potvin and Marie Azilda Charest, with origins in Québec.
