Anthony Russo is an American producer, screenwriter, and actor. Together with his brother Joe Russo , Anthony is a member of the Russo Brothers filmmaking team. They have directed the films Welcome to Collinwood , which they also wrote, You, Me and Dupree , Captain America: The Winter Soldier , Captain America: Civil War , Avengers: Infinity War , Avengers: Endgame , Cherry (2021), and The Gray Man , and were directors and producers on the series Arrested Development , Community , and Happy Endings .
Anthony is the son of Patricia and Basil Russo, who is an attorney, politician, and judge in Ohio. His sister, Angela, is also a writer and director.
Anthony’s paternal grandfather was Anthony J. Russo (the son of Basilio Russo and Rosalia Ianni). Anthony’s grandfather Anthony was born in Ohio, to parents from Longi, Messina, Sicily. He was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, from 1967 to 1972. Basilio was the son of Domenico Russo and Maria Guarnera. Rosalia was the daughter of Antonino Ianni and Rosalia Bartolo.
Anthony’s paternal grandmother was Domenica “Donnie” Cancasci (the daughter of Francesco/Frank Cancasci and Benedetta DiBianca). Domenica was born in Ohio, to parents from Italy. Francesco was born in Caccamo, Palermo, Sicily, the son of Mario Cancasci and Domenica Tottile. Benedetta was the daughter of Filadelfio Dibianca and Louisa Lamareo.
Anthony’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Gallupoli (the son of Carlo Gallupoli and Annadomenica Innocente). Joseph was born in Ohio, to Italian parents. Annadomenica was born in Spoltore, now Province of Pescara, Abruzzo, Italy.
