Antonio Tajani is an Italian politician. He has been Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, both, since 22 October, 2022; and Secretary of Forza Italia, since 15 July, 2023. He was also European Commissioner for Transport, from 9 May, 2008 to 9 February, 2010, European Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, from 9 February, 2010 to 1 July, 2014, First Vice-President of the European Parliament, from 1 July, 2014 to 18 January, 2017, and President of the European Parliament, from 17 January, 2017 to 3 July, 2019; as well as, a Member of the European Parliament for Central Italy, from 14 July, 1994 to 8 May, 2008, and again, from 1 July, 2014 to 12 October, 2022; and a Member of the Chamber of Deputies for Velletri, since 13 October, 2022.
Antonio is the son of Augusta Nardi and Raffaele Tajani. The Tajani family belongs to Neapolitan nobility, and has origins in Vietri sul Mare, near Amalfi, Salerno. Its records date back to the 1000s. He is married to Brunella Orecchio, with whom he has two children.
