Ariadna is the biological daughter of Shirley Lucía Álvarez Arévalo and poet Jorge Marel (Jorge Hernández Gómez). She was adopted by her maternal grandaunt, Josefina Antonia Arévalo Quintero, and Josefina’s husband, Wilson Alfonso Gutiérrez Gutiérrez. Ariadna was raised in Barranquilla.
