Armando Iannucci is a Scottish satirist, writer, director, producer, performer, and panellist. He created the shows The Armando Iannucci Shows , which he also starred in, The Thick of It , Veep , and Avenue 5 , all of which he also showran, directed episodes of, and wrote for. He co-created the shows The Day Today , Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge , I’m Alan Partridge , Time Trumpet , and Mid Morning Matters with Alan Partridge ; he also directed episodes of the third and fourth shows, and wrote for all of the above. He also presented and wrote for the show The Saturday Night Armistice , wrote, directed, and narrated Clinton: His Struggle with Dirt , created, wrote for, and presented the show Gash , and created, directed, and co-wrote 2004: The Stupid Version . He directed the films In the Loop , The Death of Stalin , and The Personal History of David Copperfield , all of which he co-wrote. He also co-directed and co-wrote a segment of Tube Tales , and co-wrote the film Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa .

His father, Armando Iannucci, was born in Naples, Campania, Italy, and came to Scotland in 1950, where he ran a pizza factory in Springburn. His mother was born in Glasgow, to Italian parents. He is married to lighting designer Rachel Jones, with whom he has three children.
