Art Monk is an American professional football player. A wide receiver, he played for the Washington Redskins, the New York Jets, and the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
Art is the son of Lela and Arthur Monk. His father was born in North Carolina, and his mother was born in South Carolina. Art was a first cousin, once removed, of jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk.
Art’s paternal grandfather was Berthy Monk (the son of Hinton Cole Monk and Sarah Elizabeth Williams).
Art’s paternal grandmother was Delia Grantham (the daughter of John R. Taylor and Cora Pridgen).
