Ashton Kutcher is an American model, actor, and producer, as well as entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and investor in prominent companies and tech start-ups. His roles include the series That ’70s Show , Robot Chicken , Two and a Half Men , The Ranch , and The Beauty ; and the films Coming Soon (1999), Down to You , Dude, Where’s My Car? ; Texas Rangers , Just Married , My Boss’s Daughter , Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), The Butterfly Effect , Guess Who , A Lot Like Love , Bobby , The Guardian , Open Season (2006), What Happens in Vegas , Spread , Personal Effects , Brother’s Justice , Valentine’s Day , Killers (2010), No Strings Attached , New Year’s Eve (2011), Jobs , Annie (2014), Vengeance (2022), and Your Place or Mine . Ashton is the son of Diane (Finnegan), a Procter & Gamble employee, and Larry Kutcher, a factory worker. His father was of Bohemian Czech descent. His mother is of one half Irish, one quarter German, including Swiss-German; and one quarter Bohemian Czech, ancestry. He is married to actress Mila Kunis , with whom he has two children.
Ashton is a practicing follower of Kabbalah, the Jewish religious mysticism. His wife Mila, who is Jewish, has said of him, “Ashton when we started dating, [was] very religious, very religious, very Jewish;” though he has not formally converted to Judaism.
Ashton’s paternal grandfather was Earl F. Kutcher (the son of Michael John “Mike” Kučera/Kutcher and Alice Elizabeth/Beth Sedlacek). Earl was born in Oxford, Johnson County, Iowa. Michael was born in Johnson County, the son of Czech parents, Jan “John” Kučera, from Bohemia; and Anna Lenoč/Lenoch. The surname Kucera was later changed to Kutcher. Ashton’s great-grandmother Alice was born in Monroe, Johnson County, the daughter of František “Frank” Sedláček and Anna Novotný, who were also Czech, from Pardubický kraj.
Ashton’s paternal grandmother was Adeline Mary Fisher (the daughter of Frank Fisher and Frances “Fannie” Drtina). Adeline was born in North Liberty, Johnson County, Iowa, and was of Czech descent. Frank was the son of Josef/Joseph Fisher and Anne/Anna Drtina/Drtinová, who were from Bohemia.
Ashton’s maternal grandfather was Vincent Raymond Finnegan (the son of John Edward Finnegan, Sr. and Ellen Lenaghan). Vincent was born in Keokuk County, Iowa, to Irish parents, from Lisnagore, Killeevan, County Monaghan, Ireland. John was the son of Michael Finnegan and Anne Mary Maguire. Ellen was the daughter of Terence Lenaghan, who was from Bracklow, Ballymachugh, Cavan; and of Bridget Connolly, who was from Mohill, Leitrim.
Ashton’s maternal grandmother is Rose Marie Koenighain (the daughter of Donald Jacob Koenighain and Leona Alice Kutcher). Rose was born in Tiffin, Johnson County, Iowa. Donald was born in Iowa City, Johnson County. His father, Mathias Koenigheim/Koenighain, was the son of German parents, from North Rhine-Westphalia, and Bittelbronn, Hohenzollern, Prussia, respectively. Donald’s mother, Ashton’s great-great-grandmother Ida Mae Brent/Brant, had deeper American roots, and was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry; German, along with Alsatian German and Swiss-German. Ashton’s great-grandmother Leona was born in Johnson County, the daughter of Czech parents, Michael John “Mike” Kučera/Kutcher and Alice Elizabeth/Beth Sedlacek.
Ashton’s paternal grandfather Earl F. Kutcher was the brother of Ashton’s maternal great-grandmother Leona Alice Kutcher. Thus, Ashton’s parents were first cousins, once removed.
