Axwell is a Swedish DJ, record producer, and remixer. He is a member of Swedish house supergroup Swedish House Mafia, alongside Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso . He owns Axtone Records.
Axwell is the son of Gunilla Maria Hedfors and Bengt Ingvar Petersson, who took his stepfather’s surname Johansson. Born Axel Christofer Johansson, Axwell changed his last name to his maternal family, Axel Christofer Hedfors.
Axwell’s paternal grandfather was Åke Sigurd Karlsson (the son of Sigfrid Rudolf Svensson and Elsa Wilhelmina Maria Sofia Törnström). Åke Sigurd was born in Jämjö, Blekinge. Sigfrid Rudolf was the son of Hilda Charlotta Svensdotter. Elsa was the daughter of Sven Johan Andersson Törnström and Wilhelmina Hjertman.
Axwell’s paternal grandmother was Vera Margit Petersson (the daughter of Frits Hjalmar Petersson and Syster Elisabet Sunesson). Vera Margit was born in Ronneby, Blekinge.
