Babe Pratt was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A defenceman and left winger, he played for the New York Rangers, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was nicknamed “Babe.”
He was the son of Alice Irene and Charles Pratt. His father was English. His mother was born in Canada, of English and Scottish ancestry. His son is professonal ice hockey player Tracy Pratt, who is a defenseman, and who has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Colorado Rockies, the Vancouver Canucks, the Buffalo Sabres, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Oakland Seals of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Babe’s maternal grandfather was John George Smith (the son of John Lee Lewis Smith and Elizabeth Moore).
Babe’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Irvine (the daughter of John Irvine and Margaret Park). Babe’s great-grandmother Margaret was the daughter of a Scottish father, John Park, and of Margaret Metisse.
