Bailey Howell is an American professional basketball player. A small forward/power forward, he played for the Detroit Pistons, the Baltimore Bullets, the Boston Celtics, and the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bailey was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997. He is nicknamed “Buckshot.” He is 6′7″.
Bailey is the son of Martha, a teacher, and Walter Elwood Howell, a mail carrier. He is married to Mary Lou Flowers. His son-in-law is college athletics administrator Scott Stricklin.
Bailey’s paternal grandfather was Luther Burleson “Burley” Howell (the son of David Crawford Howell and Nancy Jane Jones). Luther was born in Tennessee.
