Balen Shah, also known simply as Balen, is a Nepalese politician, structural engineer, and rapper. He has been Prime Minister of Nepal, since 27 March, 2026. He has also been Mayor of Kathmandu, from 30 May, 2022 to 18 January, 2026; as well as, a Member of Parliament, Pratinidhi Sabha, since 26 March, 2026.
Balen is the son of Dhruvadevi Shah and Ramnarayan/Ram Narayan Shah, an Ayurvedic practitioner, who worked at a hospital. His parents previously lived in Ekdara, Mahottari. His mother is from Dhanusha District. He is married to public health professional Sabina Kafle, with whom he has a daughter.
