Barbara Payton was an American actress. Her roles included the films Trapped (1949), The Pecos Pistol , Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye , Dallas (1950), Only the Valiant , Drums in the Deep South , Bride of the Gorilla , The Flanagan Boy , Four Sided Triangle , Run for the Hills , The Great Jesse James Raid , and Murder Is My Beat .

She was the daughter of Mabel Irene and Erwin Lee Redfield. Her father had deep roots in the U.S. Her maternal grandparents were Norwegian. Her parents ran a combination ice cream store and restaurant in Little Falls, Minnesota, and later moved to Odessa, Texas.

She was married to Jess Rawley, until her death. Barbara had a son with her former husband, decorated combat pilot John Payton.

Barbara’s paternal grandfather was Frank Leslie Redfield (the son of Warren Augustus/Agustus Redfield and Harriet C. Bump). Frank was born in Freeborn, Minnesota. Warren was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, the son of John W. Redfield and Charlotte Folwell. Harriet was born in Brandon, Rutland, Vermont, the daughter of Ruel Bump and Rebecca Cheney, whose maternal grandfather was Scottish.

Barbara’s paternal grandmother was Myrtle Mable McNett/McNitt (the daughter of Lyman Durand McNett/McNitt and Martha Ervin/Erwin). Myrtle was born in Whitehall, Wisconsin. Lyman was born in Pennsylvania, the son of Hiram McNett and Lucinda Pratt, or of Philetus F. McNitt and Betsey Ann Sherwood. Martha was born in New Jersey, the daughter of James Ervin and Elizabeth Hatfield Crane.

Barbara’s maternal grandfather was Knute/Knut Todahl (the son of Syvert/Sivert K. Todahl and Daardi Larsdotter Årsund Kanestrom). Knute was Norwegian. Syvert was born in Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, the son of Knute Sivertson. Daardi was the daughter of Lars Toreson/Thoresen Åasprong and Daardi Olsdatter/Olsdotter Sandvik.

Barbara’s maternal grandmother was named Ida Evenson (the daughter of Evan Fiske and Maret). Ida was Norwegian.
