Bashir Salahuddin is an American actor, writer, and comedian. His roles include the films Snatched (2017), Gringo (2018), A Simple Favor , and its sequel, Another Simple Favor ; Marriage Story , The 24th , Cyrano (2021), Top Gun: Maverick , Family Switch , Miller’s Girl , and Back in Action (2025); and the shows Arrested Development , Finish Our Movie , Looking , GLOW , Superstore , Single Parents , American Dad! , and The Dropout . He co-created the shows South Side and Sherman’s Showcase , both which he also wrote for and appeared on; and was a writer for, and performer on, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon .

His father is from Panama. His mother is African-American. His parents converted to Islam in the 1970s. Among Bashir’s siblings is writer and actor Sultan Salahuddin. Bashir is married to actress Chandra Russell, with whom he has a son.
