Becca Balint is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Vermont, since January 3, 2023. She was previously Majority Leader of the Vermont Senate, from January 6, 2017 to January 6, 2021, and President pro tempore of the Vermont Senate, from January 6, 2021 to January 3, 2023.
She is the daughter of Sandra and Peter G. Balint. Her father was a Hungarian Jew, who immigrated to the U.S. in 1957. Becca was raised in Peekskill,, New York. She is married to Elizabeth Wohl, with whom she has two children.
Becca’s paternal grandfather was murdered on a death march from the Mauthausen concentration camp, during the Holocaust in WWII.
Becca’s maternal grandfather was John J. Couchman (the son of David John Couchman and Edna Catherine Stafford).
Becca’s maternal grandmother was Geneieve Margaret Barber (the daughter of Joseph Barber and Gladys Louise Baker).
