Bernie Parent was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A goaltender, he played for the Boston Bruins, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Philadelphia Blazers of the National Hockey League (NHL), for a total of thirteen seasons. He was widely regarded as one of the greatest goaltenders to play in the league. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.
Bernie was the son of Emelie and Claude Parent. He was raised in the Montréal suburb Rosemont, Québec.
Bernie’s paternal grandfather was Ernest Louis Parent (the son of Charles Octave Parent and Edesse Filion). Charles was the son of Charles Parent and Henriette Belanger. Edesse was the daughter of Jacques Filiau and Luce Blias.
Bernie’s paternal grandmother was Anne Luce Adeline Guy (the daughter of Louis Alexis Guy and Georgianna Dionne). Louis was the son of Antonie Guy and Genevieve Berube. Georgianna was the daughter of Fortunat Dionne and Luce Juneau.
