Bill Buckner was an American professional baseball player. A first baseman and outfielder, he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Red Sox, the California Angels, and the Kansas City Royals, for a total of twnety one years in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Bill was the son of Marie Katherine, a stenographer at California Highway Patrol, and Leonard Dean Buckner. He was raised in American Canyon, California. He was married to Jody, with whom he had three children. His son Bobby played college baseball.
Bill’s paternal grandfather was Fred Simpson Buchner/Buckner (the son of John Allen Buchner/Buckner and Adeline M. Fugate). Fred was born in Kansas.
