Bobby Orr is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. A defenceman, he played for the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League (NHL); and was with the Canada national team. He is often considered one of the best players of all time. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
Bobby is the son of Arva and Douglas Fraser Orr. He is married to Margaret Louise “Peggy” Wood, with whom he has two children.
Bobby’s paternal grandfather was named Robert Orr. Robert was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, and was a top-rated soccer player.
Bobby’s maternal grandfather was Gordon David Steele (the son of Joseph Steele and Suzannah Brownlee).
Bobby’s maternal grandmother was Isabella Campbell (the daughter of James Campbell and Mary Ann Roach).
