Bowen Yang is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, podcaster, and writer. He is a cast member on the show Saturday Night Live . His roles also include the films The Lost City , Fire Island , Bros , Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again , The Monkey Kink , Dicks: The Musical , Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain , The Tiger’s Apprentice , The Garfield Movie , Wicked , The Wedding Banquet , and the sequel Wicked: For Good ; and the shows Broad City , The Outs , Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens , Girls5eva , Duncanville , Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai , Fantasmas , Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld , Monsters at Work , and Overcompensating .

Bowen was born in Brisbane, to Chinese parents who are educated professionals. His father, Ruilin, was raised in rural Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of China, in a straw and mud hut. His mother is from Shenyang, and is a physician, obstetrician-gynecologist, and diagnostics worker. His parents moved to Brisbane so his father could earn his doctorate in mining explosives.

His family speaks Mandarin. During his infancy, they moved to Brossard, Québec, Canada, and when he was nine, to Aurora, Colorado. Bowen is a dual U.S. and Canadian citizen.
