Brady Corbet is an American actor and filmmaker. His roles include the films Thirteen (2003), Thunderbirds , Mysterious Skin , Funny Games (2007), Two Gates of Sleep , Martha Marcy May Marlene , Melancholia , Simon Killer , The Sleepwalker , Clouds of Sils Maria , While We’re Young , and Escobar: Paradise Lost ; and television’s 24 and Olive Kitteridge . He has directed the films The Childhood of a Leader , Vox Lux , and The Brutalist . He co-wrote his first and third films, and wrote his second; and also co-wrote The Sleepwalker .
He has a daughter with his partner, Norwegian filmmaker and actress Mona Fastvold. Mona co-wrote his The Brutalist .
Brady attended Catholic school. He has stated that he has “distant” Jewish heritage.
Brady’s maternal grandfather was James Arthur “Jim” Pfeiffer (the son of Milton Frederick Pfeiffer and Magdalen/Magdalena Jonak). James was born in Illinois. Milton was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Jacob Pfeiffer and Kathryn Herb, who were from Alsace-Lorraine, France, and had German roots, with forebears from Prussia and Saarland; as well as some French ancestry. Magdalen was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the daughter of Hungarian parents, from Bács-Bodrog, Anton Jonak and Magdalen Mandl, who also had German, and distant Czech, ancestry.
Brady’s maternal grandmother is named Rose Mary/Rosemary Myers.
