Brian De Palma is an American director and screenwriter. He has directed the films Murder a la Mod , Greetings , The Wedding Party , Hi, Mom! , Dionysus in ’69 , Get to Know Your Rabbit , Sisters , Phantom of the Paradise , Obsession , Carrie (1976), The Fury (1978), Home Movies , Dressed to Kill , Blow Out , Scarface (1983), Body Double , Wise Guys , The Untouchables , Casualties of War , The Bonfire of the Vanities , Raising Cain , Carlito’s Way , Mission: Impossible , Snake Eyes (1998), Mission to Mars , Femme Fatale , The Black Dahlia , Redacted , Passion (2012), and Domino (2019). He is the son of Vivienne (Muti) and Anthony F. DePalma (Anthony Federico DePalma), who was an orthopedic surgeon, humanitarian, professor, and teacher. He has a daughter with his former wife, producer Gale Anne Hurd ; and a daughter with his former wife Darnell Gregorio.
Brian’s paternal grandfather was Federico Antonio De Palma (the son of Giuseppe De Palma and Giuseppa Caranfa). Federico was born, c. 1853/1855, in Alberona, Province of Foggia, Apulia, Italy.
Brian’s maternal grandparents likely were Salvatore Muti and Nellie. Salvatore and Nellie were Italian.
