Brian Jordan Alvarez is an American actor, comedian, and filmmaker. He stars on the show English Teacher , which he also created, and writes and directs for. His roles also include the shows Go-Go Boy Interrupted , Jane the Virgin , The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo , which he also created, directed, and wrote; Get Shorty , Will & Grace , and Praise Petey , the latter in voice performance; and the films The Happys , M3GAN , 80 for Brady , and M3GAN 2.0 .
He is the son of Angela Alvarez, a Spanish language professor, and Paul Jordan, an electrical engineer. His father is from the American South. His mother is from Colombia. He was raised partly in Winchester, Tennessee.
Brian’s maternal grandfather was from Spain.
