Brigid Bazlen was an American film, television, and stage actress. Her roles included the shows The Blue Fairy , Hawkins Falls , Too Young to Go Steady , Days of Our Lives , and Bright Promise ; and the films The Honeymoon Machine , King of Kings (1961), and How the West Was Won .
Her mother, Maggie Daly, was a newspaper columnist, model, show host, and fashion personality, who wrote for Chicago’s American /Chicago Today/the Chicago Tribune. Her father, Arthur Bazlen, was a retail chain executive. Brigid was the maternal niece of advertising executive Kay Daly; writer Maureen Daly, who wrote the novel Seventeenth Summer as a teen, and was married to novelist and scriptwriter William P. McGivern; and Sheila Kelly, who also wrote a Chicago Tribune column. Her mother and her mother’s sisters were famous as a quartet of Chicago-area media personalities.
Her father was of three quarters German and one quarter Irish descent. Her mother was born in Castlecaulfield, County Tyrone, Ireland, and moved to the U.S. with her family in 1923.
Brigid had a daughter with her former husband, French-American actor and singer Jean-Paul Vignon.
Brigid’s paternal grandfather was Arthur Conrad “Art” Bazlen (the son of Fritz Bazlen and Minnie Latzig). Arthur was born in Wisconsin. Fritz was born in Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin, the son of German emigrants, from Weilheim an der Teck, Württemberg, Heinrich Conrad Bazlen and Elisabetha/Elizabeth Moll/Mole. Brigid’s great-grandmother Minnie was also German, the daughter of Heinrich Gotthilf Theodor “Henry” Latzig, from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern; and of Johanna Dünow.
Brigid’s paternal grandmother was Adele Mildred O’Neil (the daughter of John O’Neil and Ida Schwedler). Mildred was born in Casco, Kewaunee County, Wisconsin. John was born in Wisconsin, to Irish parents. Ida was the daughter of German parents, Louis Schwedler, who was from Prussia, and whose father was a minister; and Louise Mæusel/Meisel.
Brigid’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Desmond Daly (the son of John Daly and Catherine Loughran). Joseph was an emigrant, from Castlecaulfeld, Tyrone, Ireland, and was a salesman for an ornamental wrought iron company.
Brigid’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Dorothea Lockton “Mary” Kelly (the daughter of James Kelly and Margaret Rose Mellon). Brigid’s grandmother Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland. James was from County Tyrone, Ireland. Brigid’s great-grandmother Margaret was from Pollokshaws, Glasgow, and likely also had Irish ancestry.
