Bud Cort was an American actor, and filmmaker. Bud was the son of Alma Mary, a reporter for the Daily Item and the Standard Star, and for MGM’s New York office; and Joseph Parker Cox, a bandleader, pianist, and merchant. His parents opened and operated men’s clothing store the Prep Shop, on Purchase St., in Rye; later known as J.P. Cox, Ltd. His nephew, Peter Berkman, is a member of chiptune-based pop and rock band Anamanaguchi.
Bud’s paternal grandfather was Joseph Michael Cox (the son of Michael R. Cox and Ann Flynn). Joseph was born in Newtown, Fairfield, Connecticut, to Irish parents, from County Westmeath.
Bud’s paternal grandmother was Johanna Agetha/Agatha Quinan (the daughter of Philip Quinan and Catherine Roach). Johanna was born in New York, to Irish parents.
Bud’s maternal grandfather was Walter Stanley Court (the son of Charles H. Court and Mary Elizabeth Hayes). Walter was born in The Bronx, New York City, New York. Charles was born in New York, to English parents. Mary Elizabeth was born in Mount Vernon, Westchester, New York, to Irish parents.
