Cal Ripken, Jr. is an American professional baseball player. A shortstop and third baseman, he played his entire twenty one season professional career with the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). He is nicknamed “The Iron Man.”
Cal is the son of Violet and Cal Ripken, Sr. He is married to judge, Laura S. He has two children with his former wife Kelly Geer.
Cal’s paternal grandfather was Arend Fredrick Ripken (the son of Peter Friedrich/Frederick Ludwig Ripken and Affena Lubina Wychgram). Peter was the son of Johann Friedrich Ripken and Anna Margrete Mueller. Affena was the daughter of Arend Wychgram and Rena Beredina Berends.
