Cara Gree is a Canadian First Nations actress. Among her roles are the films Empire of Dirt , Sundowners (2017), The Carmilla Movie , Trouble in the Garden , Red Rover , The Call of the Wild (2020), Bones of Crows , and Levels (2024), and the shows Strange Empire , Inhuman Condition , The Expanse , and Sweet Tooth .
Cara was born in Calgary, Alberta, and raised in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. She is married to actor and producer Richard de Klerk.
Cara’s paternal grandfather was Paul London Gee (the son of Walter Sydney Gee and Julia Faye London). Paul was born in New Brunswick, and had English, Scottish, Irish, and German ancestry. Walter was born in Holmesville, Kent, Carleton, New Brunswick, the son of William Sydney Gee and Mary A. Gee. Julia was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Bliss London, who was from Lakeville, Carleton; and of Antoinette E. “Nettie” Wolhaupter, whose father was from Carleton, and whose mother was from Cork, Ireland.
Cara’s paternal grandmother is named Barbara.
Cara’s maternal grandfather was Ernest Spencley (possibly the son of Jesse Hewitt Spencley and Grace Emma Meek).
Cara’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Taylor (the daughter of Horace Dean Taylor and Mary Lena Jacobs). Margaret was born in Curve Lake, Ontario, Canada, and was of mostly Ojibwe descent. Horace was the son of William Isaac Taylor, Jr., who was of half Irish descent; and of Mary Jane Yellowhead. Lena was the daughter of John Wesley “Jack” Jacobs and Edith Marsden, who had one quarter Métis ancestry.
