Her paternal grandmother was Scottish, and the rest of her family is Dutch. Carice has a son with her partner, Australian actor Guy Pearce . She speaks Dutch, English, German, and French.
Carice’s paternal grandfather was Taco Ben van Houten (the son of Hendrik Jan van Houten and Eppiena Harmina Drenth). Taco was born in Winschoten, Oldambt, Groningen, Netherlands. Hendrik was born in Baflo, Groningen, the son of Klaas van Houten and Anje Danhof. Eppiena was born in Slochteren, Groningen, the daughter of Taco/Tako Drenth and Geertje Oosterveld.
