Carole Landis was an Amercian actress, singer, and model. Her roles included the films One Million B.C. , Turnabout , Mystery Sea Raider , Moon Over Miami , I Wake Up Screaming , Cadet Girl , It Happened in Flatbush , Show Business at War , Wintertime , Four Jills in a Jeep , Secret Command , Noose (1948), and Brass Monkey (1949). She was known as “The Ping Girl” and “The Chest.”
She was the daughter of Clara Agnes Bernice (Sentek). Her mother was married to Alfred Leonard Ridste, a drifting railroad mechanic. It is not clear if Carole’s biological father was Alfred, or her mother’s second husband, Charles Fenner. Carole moved with her mother to San Bernardino, California, in 1923.
Carole’s biological paternal grandfather likely was John Andrew Anderson/Andreasen Ridste (the son of Andreas Andersen Ridste/Oldre and Gunild/Gunhild Johnsdotter Bøe). John was a Norwegian emigrant, from Vang, Oppland. Andreas was born in Vardal, Oppland, the son of Anders Johnsen/Larsen and Marith Anfindsdotter, or Sidsel Pedersdr. Gunild was born in Vang, the daughter of John Amundsen/Amundson Bøe and Randi “Rangdi” Evensdatter.
Carole’s biological paternal grandmother likely was Gurine/Gurina Pederson Hæreid (the daughter of Lars Pedersen/Person Hæreid and Katrina Helvik Aslaksdatter Kvammen). Gurine was born in Winneshiek, Iowa, the daughter of Norwegian parents, from Hordaland. Lars was born in Hæreid, the son of Peder Aslaksen/Aslakson Kvammen and Maritha/Marta Andersdotter/Andersdatter Hereid. Katrina was born in Kvammen, the dauhgter of Aslak Endresen Kvammen and Anna Nilsdotter/Nilsdatter Bolstad.
Carole’s maternal grandfather was named Ludvig Sentek (the son of Joseph/Josef Sentek). Ludvig was an emigrant from the German Empire, likely now Poland, and was of Polish descent. He was a farmer.
Carole’s maternal grandmother was Francis Lillian Gronowski (the daughter of Michael Gronowski and Mikaela/Michalena Labowski). Francis was a Polish emigrant, from Warsaw. Michael was born in Warsaw, the son of Josephus Pawlikoski and Marianna Mosciak.
