Catfish Hunter was an American professional baseball player. A pitcher, he played for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Catfish was the son of Mary Ludia and Abbott Shepard Hunter. He was married to Helen, until his death, with whom he had three children. He was raised, and lived, on a farm in Hertford, where he grew soybeans, corn, peanuts, and cotton.
