Cecilia Roth is a Spanish-Argentine actress. She began her career in Argentina, until 1976, when she left because of the military dictatorship, and moved to Spain. She has had great success in Spanish cinema. Her roles include the films Labyrinth of Passion , Dark Habits , The Loves of Kafka , A Place in the World , Martín (Hache) , Ashes of Paradise , All About My Mother , Second Skin , Antigua, My Life ; Private Life , Talk to Her , Desire (2002), I’m So Excited! , Breadcrumbs , El Angel , Pain and Glory , El prófugo , Crímenes de familia , Conversaciones sobre el odio , and Culpa cero .
Her father, Abrasha Rotenberg, emigrated to Argentina from the Soviet Union in the 1930s, and was a writer, editor, and journalist. Her mother, Dina Rot (née Gutkin Saposnik), was an Argentinian-born singer. Her parents were both of Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Her brother, musician Ariel Rot, was a member of Spanish-Argentine supergroup Los Rodríguez, and also lives in Spain. Cecilia has one child, who is adopted, with her former partner, Argentine Latin rock musician and filmmaker Fito Páez.
