Christian is the son of Dale and German-American actor Eric Braeden (born Hans-Jörg Gudegast). His aunt (mother’s half-sister) is actress Sigrid Valdis. He is married, and has three children.

Christian’s maternal grandmother is Myrle/Mirle Esther Hardwick (the daughter of Frederick William Hardwick and Ethel Hope Halliwell/Hollowell). Fred was born in Washington, the son of W.
