Christine Fréchette is a Canadian politician and businessperson. She has been Premier of Québec, since April 15, 2026, and Leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec, since April 12, 2026. She has also been Minister of Immigration, Francisation and Integration, from October 20, 2022 to September 5, 2024; Minister responsible for Regional Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal region, both, from September 5, 2024 to September 10, 2025; Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, from September 5, 2024 to January 26, 2026; and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region, from November 5, 2025 to January 26, 2026; as well as, a Member of the National Assembly for Sanguinet, since October 3, 2022.
Christine is the daughter of Jocelyne (Tremblay) and Yves Frechette. She is married to financier Guy Nadeau, with whom she has a son.
Christine’s paternal grandfather was Agenor Frechette (the son of Dieudonne Frechette and Lucie Cote). Agenor was born in Chesterville, Québec. Dieudonne was born in St-Paul-de-Chester, Arthabaska, Québec, the son of Joseph Frechette and Adele Dubord. Christine’s great-grandmother Lucie was born in St-Paul-de-Chester, the daughter of Dieudonne Cote and Tharsile Rouleau.
Christine’s paternal grandmother was Alice Lallier (the daughter of Onesime Lallier and Marie-Louise Lavigne). Alice was born in Chesterville, Québec. Onesime was born in St-Paul-de-Chester, Arthabaska, Québec, the son of Joseph Lallier and Dorothee Bourque. Christine’s great-grandmother Marie-Louise was born in St-Christophe, Arthabaska, the daughter of Gedeon Lavigne and Virginie Houle.
Christine’s maternal grandfather was Albert Tremblay (the son of Egide Tremblay and Marie-Laure Guay). Albert was born in Port-Alfred/La Baie, Saguenay, Québec. Egide was born in St-Fulgence, Saguenay, the son of Evague Tremblay and Evangeline Lavoie. Marie-Laure was the daughter of Louis Guay and Laura Fortin.
Christine’s maternal grandmother was Charlotte Levesque (the daughter of Onesime Levesque and Elmina Lapointe). Onesime was the son of Pierre Levesque and Marie-Luce Gagne. Elmina was the daughter of Onesime Audet and Adeline Cote.
