Claire is the daughter of Caroline and David Foy, a Rank Xerox salesman. Her father was born in Manchester, and was adopted. She was raised in Manchester, Leeds, and then Longwick in Buckinghamshire. She has a daughter with her former husband, actor Stephen Campbell Moore. Stephen also has a daughter with his partner, actress Sophie Cookson .

I think how quickly my nan and grandad’s life – coming to London where the Irish were completely stigmatized and they just worked themselves to the bone – six kids in a two up, two down. And then suddenly my mum – the eldest – went to university…

Claire’s biological paternal grandmother was Joyce Manwaring (the daughter of Harry Manwaring and Emily May Martin). Harry was the son of Charles Albert Manwaring and Mary Davenport. Emily was the daughter of John William Martin and Emma Rayner.
