Clint Howard is an American actor. He is the son of actors Rance Howard (born Harold Rance Beckenholdt) and Jean Speegle Howard (born Jean Frances Speegle). His brother is director, producer, and actor Ron Howard . His sister-in-law, Ron’s wife, is writer Cheryl (Alley) Howard. He is the uncle of actresses Bryce Dallas Howard and Paige Howard, who are Ron and Cheryl’s children.
Clint is married to Kat C. Cruz, with whom he has a daughter.
Clint’s father changed his surname from Beckenholdt to Howard when he became an actor, before Clint was born. Clint’s paternal grandfather was of German descent, and Clint also has more distant German ancestry from his mother’s Speegle line. Clint’s other roots are English, Scottish, Irish, and remote Dutch.
Clint has also been described as having Cherokee Native American ancestry. It is not clear if this Cherokee ancestry has been verified/documented.
Clint’s paternal grandfather was Engel/Engle E. Beckenholdt (the son of J. Heinrich/Henry Beckenholdt and Caroline Engelking). Engel was born in Kansas, of German descent. J.
