A Republican, he has served as a Member of the Montana Senate, from January 2001 to January 2009, and Secretary of State of Montana, from January 2, 2017 to January 4, 2021. He is part of country music band Corey Stapleton & The Pretty Pirates.
He was a candidate for the Republican Party’s nomination for President of the United States in 2024 .
He has four children with his former wife Terry.
