Cristian Mungiu is a Romanian film director and screenwriter. He is part of the Romanian New Wave. He has directed and written the films Occident , 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days ; Beyond the Hills , Graduation (2016), R.M.N. , and Fjord . He also directed a segment of Tales from the Golden Age , and wrote the entire film; as well as wrote the film Traffic (2024).
His sister is political scientist, academic, journalist, and writer Alina Mungiu-Pippidi. He has two children.
