Curry Barker is an American filmmaker, actor, comedian, and YouTuber. He has directed and written the films Milk & Serial and Obsession (2025), as well as many shorts. He is one half of sketch comedy duo “that’s a bad idea,” alongside Cooper Tomlinson. He also starred in Milk & Serial ; and on the That’s a Bad Idea web series, as well as on Roommates , which he also directed and wrote for; and Privately Investigated , which he co-created. Cooper starred with him on all three web series.
His father is a psychiatric nurse and screenwriter. His mother is a graphic designer.
Curry’s paternal grandfather is the son of Milton Barker and Bernice Marie Stuart. He was born in Texas. Milton was born in Texas, the son of William J. Barker and Mittie Jane Baker. Bernice was born in Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Kern Conrad Stuart and Ollie Estella “Stella” Covey. Through Curry’s great-great-grandfather Kern, he is the great-great-great-nephew of former death row inmate Eligha Stuart, whose sentence was commuted in 1935.
Curry’s paternal grandmother was Myrtle Ruth “Ruthie” Tyler (the daughter of Simon Voyt Tyler and Gladys Marie Cole). Myrtle was born in Louisiana. Simon was born in Vick, Avoyelles, Louisiana, the son of Martin VanBuren Tyler and Odelia Wiley, whose mother was of part Cajun French decent. Curry’s great-grandmother Gladys was born in Louisiana, the daughter of Valentine Cole and Myrtle George.
