Dan Uggla is an American professional baseball player. A second baseman, he played for the Florida Marlins, the Atlanta Braves, the San Francisco Giants, and the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Dan is the son of Elizabeth and John Uggla. Uggla is a Swedish surname that means “owl.” The surname comes from a noble family in Sweden. Dan is married to Janette Repsch. He has two children with his former wife; and two with Janette.

Dan’s paternal grandfather was Arnold Helmfrid Uggla (the son of Carl Magnus Helmfrid Uggla and Annie Myra Price). Arnold was born in New York. Carl was born in Kils socken, Örebro Municipality, Sweden, the son of Pontus Helmfrid Uggla and Malvina Sofia Ulrika Berggren.
