Dana Carvey is an American stand-up comedian, actor, impressionist, screenwriter, and producer. He is known for his tenure on Saturday Night Live , and for the films Tough Guys , Opportunity Knocks , Wayne’s World , and its sequel; Trapped in Paradise , and The Master of Disguise .

Dana is the son of school teacher parents, Billie and Bud Carvey. His brother, Brad Carvey, engineered and designed the Video Toaster. He was raised mostly in Anderson, and San Carlos, California. Dana is married to Paula Zwagerman, with whom he has had two children, including comedian Dex Carvey.

Dana’s paternal grandfather was William John Carvey (the son of Daniel Carvey and Ellen Martha Bitner). William was born in Fergus Falls, Otter Trail, Minnesota, to parents from Pennsylvania. Martha was the daughter of Amos Bitner and Lucinda Taylor, who likely was of part Irish descent.

Dana’s paternal grandmother was Myrtle Olivia Olson (the daughter of Carl/Charles Johan/John Olson and Helga C. Sunde). Myrtle was born in Wisconsin. Carl was born in Rölanda, Älvsborg, Sweden, the son of Olof Andreasson, who was Swedish, and of Marie Torstensdotter, who was Norwegian. Dana’s great-grandmother Helga was born in Norway, the daughter of Carl/Charles J. Sunde and Henrietta Christensen, who was from Frederickstard.

Dana’s maternal grandfather was Theodore Warren McDonald (the son of Edward McDonald and Emeline A. Graves). Thomas was born in Eau Claire, Eau Claire Co., Wisconsin. Edward was born in Canada, the son of Peter McDonald and Christina. Emeline likely was born in Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the daughter of Warren Graves, who was born in Vienna, Kennebec, Maine, and who died from disease while fighting in the Civil War; and of Harriet S. Bemis.

Dana’s maternal grandmother was Delores/Dolores R. Dahl (the daughter of Anders/Andrew Sivertsen Dahl and Ragnhild Charlotte Svendsdatter/Swenson). Delores was born in Minnesota, to Norwegian parents. Anders was the son of Sivert Andersen Nordtømme Dahl and Serine Svendsdatter. Ragnhild was the daughter of Sven Olson Sve and Marie Fredriksdatter Suhr.
