Daniel was born in West Germany, to American parents. He grew up in Titusville, Florida. His father is of English, and distant Irish, Welsh, and Scottish, ancestry. His mother is of Swiss-German, Scottish, and English descent.
Daniel’s patrilineal lineage can be traced back to his tenth great-grandfather, William MacIntosh, who was born, c. 1635, in Scotland.
Daniel’s paternal grandfather was Arthur Nelson Tosh (the son of John R. Tosh and Nellie D. Schide). John was the son of Levi Franklin Tosh and Sarah Malinda Laws.
Daniel’s maternal grandfather was Dwight Edison Amstutz (the son of David Nelson Amstutz and Elda Edna Geiger). David was the son of Swiss parents, Abraham Amstutz and Elizabeth Tschantz. Elda was the daughter of Sem Geiger and Katharina Lehman, both of whom were of Swiss-German descent.
Daniel’s maternal grandmother was Kathleen/Catherine R. Patterson (the daughter of George E. Patterson and Lila E. Reynolds). George and Lila were Canadian. George was the son of Neil Patterson, whose father was Scottish, and of Margaret Gordon, who was Scottish. Lila’s parents were English.
