Darren Barnet is an American actor. He is known for his roles on the shows Turnt , Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , Never Have I Ever , as Paxton Hall-Yoshida; Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles , Skull Island , Blue Eye Samurai , Jurassic World: Chaos Theory , and Chicago Med ; in the films American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules , Untitled Horror Movie , Love Hard , Gran Turismo , Godzilla Minus One , Anyone but You , and Road House (2024); and in the video game Immortals of Aveum .

He was raised in Orlando, Florida, during his teen years. Darren speaks Japanese and conversational Spanish.

He is also said to have Cherokee Native American ancestry on his father’s side. It is not clear if this Cherokee ancestry has been verified/documented.

Darren’s paternal grandfather was jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Charlie Barnet (born Charles Daly Barnet, the son of Willard Raymond Barnet and Charline Daly). Charlie was born in New York. Willard was the son of William Dale Barnet, whose parents were Scottish; and of Elizabeth Ellen Huff. Charline’s father, Charles Frederick Daly, was the son of Irish parents; he was a banker and businessperson, who was a vice-president for the New York Central Railroad. Charline’s mother was Edith Belle Clark.

Darren’s paternal grandmother was singer Harriet Clark (born Harriet M. Umbach, the daughter of Harry Victor Umbach and Mae Muller). Harry was the son of Julius Umbach, who was German; and of Elizabeth Scheel, whose parents also were German. Mae was the daughter of George Muller and Margarethe Erbe, who were born in New York, both of them to German parents.

Darren’s maternal grandfather was Frederick John Borkman (the son of Victor George Borkman and Austia Mildred Davis). Frederick was born in Ohio. Victor was the son of Fred Borkman and Mary Adolphson, who were Swedish. Austia was the daughter of John Davis, who was born in Ohio, to Welsh parents; and of Elizabeth Giles “Lizzie” Carter.

Darren’s maternal grandmother was named Toshi Takeda. Toshi was born in Osaka, Japan. She came to the U.S. in 1953.
