Daveigh Chase was an American actress, singer, model, and voice actress. She voiced Lilo Pelekai in the film Lilo & Stitch (2002), and its sequels, Stitch! The Movie and Leroy & Stitch ; as well as on Lilo & Stitch: The Series , and in the video games Disney’s Lilo & Stitch and Lilo & Stitch: Trouble in Paradise . Her roles also included the films Donnie Darko , Spirited Away , Samara Morgan in The Ring (2002), Carolina (2003), Beethoven’s 5th , the sequel S. Darko ; Yellow (2012), Little Red Wagon , Jack Goes Home , and American Romance ; the series Fillmore! , Oliver Beene , Big Love , and Betsy’s Kindergarten Adventures ; the made-for-tv movies The Rats (2002) and Killer Crush ; the video game Let It Die ; and the short film Haunted Lighthouse 3D . She was also billed as Daveigh Elizabeth Chase.
Daveigh was the daughter of Cathy Chase and John Schwallier. She was partly raised in Albany, in the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
Daveigh’s paternal grandfather was Jerry Hart Schwallier (the son of John William Schwallier, Jr. and Anna Bell/Belle Thurman). Jerry was born in Kentucky. John was born in Kentucky, the son of John Chevelier Schwallier, who was born in France; and of Catherine/Katherine/Catharina B. Koehler/Koewler, who was an ethnic German, from Alsace, France. Daveigh’s great-grandmother Anna was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Henry Clay/Clayton Thurman and Cora Angeline/Angelina Hogg.
