Debbie Stabenow is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she has been a Member of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, from January 1975 to January 1979, Chair of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, from January 1977 to January 1979, a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan, from January 3, 1997 to January 3, 2001, a U.S. Senator from Michigan, from January 3, 2001 to January 3, 2025, Secretary of the Senate Democratic Caucus, from January 3, 2005 to January 3, 2007, Chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, from January 3, 2011 to January 3, 2015, and again, from February 3, 2021 to January 3, 2025; and Chair of the Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, from January 3, 2017 to January 3, 2025.
Debbie is the daughter of Anna Merle (Hallmark) and Robert Lee Greer. She has two children with her former husband Dennis Stabenow. The surname Stabenow is German.
