Dee Dee Ramone, was an American musician, singer, rapper, and songwriter. He was the bassist and occasional lead vocalist for, and a founding member of, punk rock band the Ramones. He was also a member of punk rock band The Murder Junkies. Joey Ramone and Johnny Ramone were also members of the Ramones. He was also known as Dee Dee King.
Dee Dee was the son of mother Tony and father Glenn Leroy Colvin, a U.S. soldier. Many of his paternal roots trace back to the 1600s in the U.S. His mother was said have been German. He was raised partly in West Berlin, West Germany, and then in Forest Hills, Queens. Dee Dee was married to Barbara Ramone Zampini, until his death.
Dee Dee’s paternal grandfather was Walter Roy Colvin (the son of Martilious Colvin and Ellen Jane Dozier). Walter was born in Holden, Johnson, Missouri. Martilious was born in Indiana, the son of Richard T. Colvin and Nancy Miland Griggs. Dee Dee’s ancestry can be traced back to Josine Boyer, who was born in New Amsterdam, now New York, to Dutch parents.
